Q. How did LEEF get started?
A: LEEF was formed in August 2006 by a group of citizens in the LISD
community. After several community meetings organized by individuals
previously involved in district wide committee activities, a mission
statement was written, and formal incorporation papers filed. In our
first year, we granted almost $14,000 in classroom grants.
Q. How did LEEF decide on the programs
it has chosen to support?
A: The LEEF Board held a series of meetings with district leaders
during February of 2008 to brainstorm and prioritize goals for the
district and LEEF. Subsequent discussions within the LEEF Board led
to the initiatives we support. In each program, LISD is an active
partner in planning and execution. Our goal is to proceed in close
partnership to acheive district goals.
