Creating Cross Curricular Comprehension – Winkley Elementary Ellen Pruitt and Donna Brady - $600

Artistic Endeavors – Cox Elementary Paula McClain

Fifth grade students will have the opportunity to contribute to the school atmosphere by painting a large scale mural on the cafeteria. These students may volunteer for the “Art Club” and students who are identified as needing adult mentors will be specifically targeted for participation.

Parent Meetings

Provides books and other learning materials to children ages birth to 5 and their families who live within the boundaries of seven of Leander ISDs Title One elementary schools. Young Parent Meetings will be held at LISD High Schools during lunch hours using a motivational approach.
Chess Club – Leander Middle School Kim

Chess develops mental abilities used throughout life: concentration,
critical thinking, abstract reasoning, problem solving, pattern
recognition, strategic planning, creative analysis, synthesis, and
evaluation.
Big Books in Action – Winkley Elementary

Parent Involvement Project- Faubion Elementary

Funding will provide quality parent education programs including family activities for parents and children to do together, educational children’s programs, and feedback from historically no-involved parents.
Early Reading Intervention using High Interest Science Readers - Parkside Elementary Amie Chase, Amy Eckert - $4800
By using high-interest science books, we capture the audience and enhance science vocabulary simultaneously by incorporating non-fiction leveled readers within a guided reading structure.
